Locksmith service
uPVC Locksmith Belfast
uPVC door specialists across Belfast. Snapped cylinders, failed multipoint locking mechanisms, stiff handles and anti-snap upgrades, repaired or replaced on the spot.

uPVC doors are fitted on the majority of homes across Belfast and surrounding areas, and when their lock fails the whole door becomes unusable. Andy Locksmiths specialises in uPVC door locks, from a snapped or jammed Euro cylinder to a failed multipoint gearbox or a door that no longer locks because it has dropped on its hinges.
We carry the parts on the van, so most uPVC faults are diagnosed and fixed in a single visit. A stiff or lifting handle is the earliest warning that a multipoint mechanism is wearing out, and dealing with it early is far cheaper than waiting for it to fail completely.
We also upgrade vulnerable standard cylinders to anti-snap TS007 3-star units, the single most effective security improvement on a uPVC door.
What's Included
Common uPVC Door Problems We Fix
The most common uPVC faults we see are snapped or seized Euro cylinders, failed multipoint gearboxes, stiff or dropping handles and doors that will not lock because the door has misaligned. We carry gearboxes and cylinders from all the leading brands, so the repair is usually completed on the first visit.
We fit cylinders from Yale, Chubb, Union, Era, Mul-T-Lock, Avocet and Brisant Ultion, and stock multipoint gearboxes from Yale, Avocet, Fuhr, Maco, Mila, GU, Roto, Winkhaus and Lockmaster. We work on uPVC front, back, patio and French doors as well as aluminium commercial shopfront uPVC locks.
uPVC Locksmith FAQ
Honest answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, just call us.
- Yes. A stiff handle is a warning sign that the multipoint gearbox is starting to fail. Dealing with it early is far cheaper and less stressful than waiting for the door to jam shut completely, which often happens at the worst possible moment.
- A straightforward Euro cylinder replacement takes around 15 to 20 minutes. A full multipoint gearbox replacement takes a little longer, usually 30 to 60 minutes, and we carry the common mechanisms on the van.
- TS007 is the British Standard rating system for Euro cylinders. A 3-star cylinder is independently tested to resist snapping, picking, drilling and bumping, and is the recommended upgrade for any uPVC or composite door.
- Yes. We stock and fit cylinders from all the leading brands, so we can match or upgrade whatever is currently on your door.
- This usually means the door has dropped slightly on its hinges and the locking points are no longer meeting the keeps cleanly, or the gearbox is starting to fail. We can realign the door and adjust or replace the mechanism so it locks smoothly again.
- Yes. A snapped cylinder is a common emergency call-out. We can gain entry, remove the broken cylinder and fit a new one, and we strongly recommend upgrading to an anti-snap unit so it cannot happen again.
- The multipoint gearbox is the central mechanism inside the door that drives the hooks, rollers and bolts into the frame when you lift the handle. They fail through wear, a dropped door putting strain on the mechanism, or forcing a stiff handle, which is why early attention is worthwhile.
- Yes. We work on uPVC front, back, patio and French doors, and on aluminium commercial shopfront uPVC locks, fixing cylinders, gearboxes, handles and alignment on all of them.
- A key that spins freely usually points to a broken cam or a failed gearbox. We can gain entry and replace the faulty mechanism, carrying the common gearboxes on the van so the repair is usually done in one visit.
- Almost always cheaper to repair. The door itself is rarely the problem, it is the lock mechanism inside it, and replacing the gearbox or cylinder restores the door to full working order at a fraction of the cost of a new door.
- Yes. While we are fixing the fault we can upgrade you to an anti-snap TS007 3-star cylinder and check the alignment and locking points, leaving your door both working and far more secure than before.
